James turns 40!!!!!!!!

October 22nd, 2007 by James

I would like to start out by saying that I have the greatest wife in the WORLD!!! She would most CIA Agents to shame. She kept a secret for my birthday since January. Up until the day of my birthday, she was telling me that she HAD to go into work, but would try to get off early.

Well, on to what she did for my birthday… she rented me a 325 Horsepower, Black Convertible Shelby GT-H Mustang. It was the MOST Awesome thing in the WORLD. I absolutely love that car… It came as an automatic, but in this case, I think the car was still a lot of fun to drive. I rode around almost the whole day with the top down.

Thank you sweetie!!!!!

Pictures will be coming very soon!!!!

Cat Lovers Please Read

October 2nd, 2007 by Thalia

Hi everyone. You know I hate stuff like this normally but I just wanted to ask a favor. Near my hometown Franklin in the NC mountains where I grew up there is a no kill cat shelter. There is an elderly gentleman who runs this shelter and he does most all of the work himself. This guy is a really good mountain guy and really has devoted himself to helping cats in his retirement. If you love cats maybe you will have a tender spot for him. There is a video on you tube that shows the shelter, it is neat it’s a big open home with no cages . Anyway, he is in a contest from Animal Planet for Cat Hero of the year and if he wins he will win some money for his shelter and a spot of tv. You can only vote once from the same computer You can easily vote by going to his site www.catman2.org then click on a link from the front page to vote for Harold Sims. My boss recently took his beloved cat there (drove all of 6 hours and back) and they were wonderful to the cat, infact the cat already has a nice new home.

If you do give him a vote I appreciate it.

International Talk Like a Pirate Day

September 19th, 2007 by James

Ahoy, me hearties! September 19th is “International Talk Like a Pirate Day“. So, start talking or you’ll be walkin the plank… aaaarrrrrh!

“International Talk Like a Pirate Day (ITLAPD) is a parodic holiday invented in 1995 by John Baur (”Ol’ Chumbucket”) and Mark Summers (”Cap’n Slappy”), of the United States, who proclaimed September 19 each year as the day when everyone in the world should talk like a pirate. For example, an observer of this holiday would greet friends not with “Hello,” but with “Ahoy, me hearty!” The date was selected because it was the birthday of Summers’ ex-wife and consequently would be easy for him to remember.”

We went to our first Hawaiian Lu’au

September 18th, 2007 by James

We had a great time with our new friends at the Ka Pu’uwai ‘O Hawai’i – The Hawai’i Club of North Carolina. It started on Friday, September 14 and went until Sunday September 16th.

We had an incredible time, we ate ono kalua pig and had a late potluck lunch with the members of the club. Besides ono grindz and entertainment, we swam in the pool, played volleyball, and of course, talked story with everyone. We were definitely were the “malihini” (newcomer or visitor), but everyone was very warm and welcomed our family immediately.

We want to send out a giant mahalo to the club, and hope that you will have us back next year.

Here are some of the pictures from the setting up the Imu (underground ground oven) on Friday night.

Trip to the beach

August 14th, 2007 by James

Here are a few pictures from our last trip down to Atlantic Beach, although we went to the pool more than we went to the beach on this trip for some reason.

Just in case you were wondering… Jamie was out cold asleep during the fun.

Taylor’s new bike

August 14th, 2007 by James

We promise that we are doing stuff with Jamie as well, but this week Taylor got her first real “Big Kids” Bicycle, and she loves it. She would ride it for ever if we let her.

She has been such a good girl lately, and they are only children once. What kid doesn’t need a bike, huh?

One journalist standing up against Paris Hilton in the News

June 29th, 2007 by James

I really don’t have anything against Paris Hilton, but I am kind of inclined to agree with this journalist, and say that there is MUCH more important news than Paris getting out of jail. Boo Hoo!

June 23rd, 2007 by James

Taylor went to one of her friends/classmates birthday party. It was a beautiful day, and not too hot. The kids had a great time. They loved the pool and water slide as you can tell!

Approve sites your kid visits with Glubble

June 19th, 2007 by James

If you need another reason to be using Firefox, and you are a parent of children under 12, here it is. There is a new extension for Firefox that lets you create and/or approve websites that your children right in the browser. It also allows you to give the children their own username and password to allow different sites for different children.

My daughter is 4 years, and has already fallen in love with getting on the Internet with my wife and I. As she gets older, this will be an excellent tool to help us if we walk away for a few minutes.

Being careful at Free Wireless Hotspots

June 11th, 2007 by James

This is a pretty alarming video of someone sitting in a hotel lobby where there is Free Wireless Internet for their customers, and a “Hacker” or “Hustler” as they are called in England is capturing all of their information. After capturing the information the Hustler uses it to make purchase large ticket items on the Internet.

CBS exec: Watch Jericho live if you want it to live

June 11th, 2007 by James

I can not believe the attitude of TV Executives. If you do not stop your lives, and sit down when they want you to then to hell with what you will watch on TV. They are basically saying that if you want this show brought back, then do not record or Tivo the show, sit there when we tell you to, and watch the show live. Then, you have no way of not watching the commercials.

What would be the difference when people taped the show on VHS? All this shows the public is that you all are a bunch of greedy SOB’s!

CBS exec: Watch Jericho live if you want it to live – TV Squad

Now for the disclaimer: I have not watched this show yet, as I have been caught up with others that I have been watching longer. But, any time that I see this type of bullying, it drives me crazy. I had planned on watch the show on DVD and catching up that way. Now only time will tell…

Another quote I found at Zatz Not Funny!

While I’m pleased to see the show renewed for at least 7 more episodes, I think CBS is a bit misguided on this point. If they need a larger audience, they can help themselves by not scheduling directly opposite American Idol and taking a 2+ month mid-season hiatus. Prior to the nuttiness, I would have also suggested advertising – but they’ve gotten a ton… 25 tons to be exact. And it wouldn’t hurt to figure out how to track time-shifted viewing. DVRs aren’t going away. Quite the opposite: Their penetration and usage will continue to increase.

Everyday Italian

June 7th, 2007 by James

My favorite cooking show right now has to be Everyday Italian with Giada De Laurentiis. Although, just between you and me, I don’t know if I have ever seen quite so many teeth before… :)
